#3889 My dad was an alcoholic and when he was drunk it was terrifying. He never physically harmed me or even threatened me, but he was such a different person it frightening. I don't drink because I don't want to be my dad. If I have a kid one day, I never want to put them through the same experiences as I went through. I have nothing against people who drink and I don't think I am better than them in anyway. If my dad wasn't an alcoholic I'd definitely drink as well. Just think about this next time someone tells you they don't drink, you never know what people have gone through in their life.

You walk around "acting" like a good person in both thought and deed to a point where it becomes a part of you. You now have two sides of yourself wanting war and peace. One offers the opportunity to learn all of the things you've ever dreamed of, while the other provides solace to your mind. You can't satisfy both though. In addition going in either direction betrays some part of you. Sell out for your dreams, or resent yourself for never chasing them. Sucks never having satisfaction with what you're doing. I wonder if becoming a sage warrior is possible. Yet again I think the mixing of the ethereal energies might bring some solace, even amongst the pain. I hope happiness will come soon. Such is life

#3886 I have got to say I find it hilarious when people say grades don't define them to justify their poor grades. Grades are all that have defined you so far,that is why you're in college. If grades don't mean anything then the college, which is a gate way to more money, opportunities, success in general, has made a huge mistake by admitting you. The colleges should have chosen someone else with lower grades and more "charm" I guess.I am not saying I am a good student, right now I have a sub 3.0 GPA in a major which has a fetishist obsession with rules and regulations. But I find solace in the fact that one of the greatest mathematicians of the 20th century, Grothendieck, was actually a poor university student. I don't know, grades might be a poor measure of ability but it has taken me this far, and if I embrace that grades are irrelevant, then I will have to admit than my success so far is ill-gotten.

#3885 I feel people act happy to keep up a certain persona rather than expressing a real feeling. Isn't this fact known? Why do we even acknowledge others' sentiments as anything other than an act? Most people's actions are intended to do nothing more than keep up a certain persona. What have you got to hide that you have to put up such a facade? Are you that bad of a person?
