#4406 I don't take the media's portrayal of women personally. People are always talking about how tabloids/TV provide an unrealistic image of women that's bad for our self esteem. I agree with this theoretically I guess, it is an unrealistic image. But when I look at a magazine cover and see a picture of Beyonce/Shakira, it doesn't make me feel bad about myself because the media is never really straight about anything, so why should I listen to them in the first place? I just acknowledge that Beyonce/Shakira are more attractive than me and that's fine, it's not like they're in direct competition with me in my social circle anyways so it just doesn't bother me that much.
