If you approach me with a conversation opener having /anything/ to do with Chinese food, anime, martial arts, how Asian women are so cool/cute/sweet/quiet/docile, how you’ve been to this and that Asian country, poorly-accented Mandarin, etc., I will mentally block you from having any access into my social life. I’ll be nice to you externally, because I can’t bring myself to be like those people who can just straight up tell somebody if they don’t like their shit, but don’t expect me to accept your requests to hang out or to teach you Chinese or to take you to Chinatown. There’s the Metro, there are classes here; use your resources on your own time. And please don’t give me that bullshit about how “Oh, you’re like such a typical Asian girl! Small and quiet!” There are over a billion Chinese and millions of Asians of other nationalities worldwide. You’ve probably met several dozen in your lifetime, so I’m going to go out on a limb here and say your sample size is about as big as, oh I don’t know, a shallow stereotype? I thought after I left high school and came to uni, that shit would stop, but nope, it’s still here. I’ll go on to say, though, that if you genuinely approach without giving a shit about my ethnicity and it’s about me as an individual with personal tastes and quirks, then no matter where you come from, what your background is, what your lifestyle is, I’ll be your friend for life.

#5812 I’m so tired of having to change where I hang out in between classes because I’m trying to avoid certain people. Why is it that some guys just don’t get the hint that we’re actually NOT that close and that they shouldn’t be attempting to grab me in (weird) hugs or touching me in general? It makes me so fucking uncomfortable. I think there’s a very clear delineation between “being nice” and “we’re total besties now”…. I’m actually a very touchy-feely cuddly kind of girl, but only with people I actually consider friends…. Then the fact that they actually notice when I’m no longer in a certain spot and message me about it is just raising the creeper level. I’m honestly a bit envious of people who have no problem telling others straight up if they don’t like something, like my mum, because I can’t because I know I’ll feel awful about it immediately afterwards and it just encourages these people to keep doing the same shit.

#5811 Last semester crushed me as a new transfer student. I have to retake a class that I didn't pass and really struggle with. I've learned so much more and doing better in class, but I'm still disappointed in myself and people just say they "don't want to end up like me". Screw you, I'll have a 3.0 this semester.
