#7925 Alright guys, true story here. I send an email to my professor they day before the final telling him I need to take another one because I have three on that day. He tells me its fine and also tells me to pick whatever time I feel comfortable doing it. I go to my last exam that day, which happens to be in the same classroom as the one I got moved (just 8 hours later) and as I sit down I find under my seat a copy of the exam I didn't go to. Honestly, I know people are gonna say its cheating and shit, but I bet that not one of you would not have used it.
Anyways, as I write this my exam is in 11 hours and I am yet to look at the copy I got.
This was the best thing that's happened in all of what was otherwise an extremely shitty semester.

#7924 I'm not even officially moved out yet and the only person who's name I remember from my floor is my roommate's.... and I'm not even sure how to pronounce his last name. I love being a CE and programming in my room 25-8.

#7923 So I've had a male friend that I've known for 3 years. In the beginning we were so close and were bestfriends. Then he caught feelings and then I caught feelings and we went out for 5 months. Things were kinda normal but he kept on bringing up stuff like how he wants me back or how he missed me and say sweet things like I have his heart but then the next I don't hear from him for like 3 months. I tried to contact him but his phone is off. I really do miss him and our friendship but idk. If he contact me what should I say or do? I tried to contact him by phone, email and mail.

#7921 So I've been single all of my life. Do girls find that to be a turn off? Like there's something wrong with me. Maybe I'm a little shorter than the average guy... but I'm in pretty good shape, pretty smart and driven, kind and funny. For whatever reason the girls I've pursued relationships with just aren't interested, or things don't turn out the way I hoped because of unfortunate circumstances. Not really into hooking up or having flings and feel that there's so many girls at the school that are only about that. Feels embarrassing that everyone always talks about sex and hooking up and while I've had my first kiss, I've done nothing beyond that. Not that I'm trying to be a prude just happens to be that way.

#7920 I like going to raves because I like the music. The culture isn't to bad either, but am I the only one who thinks shuffling looks dumb. Either that or the people I see shuffling suck at it. But then again I probably look like a retard spazzing out to the music

#7919 TIL : UMD Kids are just as immature as community college kids. You're lives seemed to be comprised of either sex or drama. Seriously, as a transfer, I was holding you people to a higher standard, especially with the phenomenal rep the school has academically.

#7918 Mega-rant time! Of the plethora of administrations within the University of Maryland, the Department of Resident Life is far and away the absolute worst. I am simply appalled at how horribly DRL treats residents. I have not had a single instance during my first year at this university that has led me to say "DRL is alright!"
Here are the most outstanding instances (with complementary tl;dr's) in which DRL has mistreated me and my fellow residents:
1. At the beginning of the Spring semester, I began with a single room. Within the first week, I was given less than 24 hours' notice that I would be receiving a new roommate. Less than three weeks later, my new roommate and I were given less than 18 hours' notice that we would be receiving another new roommate and must properly prepare the room for them. In neither instance was my RA informed at any point that a new roommate would be coming in. I sent several respectful emails to people at various levels of administration within the DRL asking for an explanation as to why we were given such meager time and lack of information to prepare the room for a person that would be living with us for the remainder of the semester. I received absolutely no responses other than "send your issues to _____."
tl;dr DRL treats new (and already existing) residents like numbers and does not put nearly any effort towards making the already difficult transition of becoming or having a new roommate an easy one.
2. Nearly every other morning at 7 a.m., the dumptrucks came to empty the dumpsters outside Ellicott Hall. It goes without saying that it made such clangorous noises that it would wake up everyone within a 200-foot radius of the dumping. It most certainly created an unavoidable sleeping pattern that would wake me up at 7 a.m. every morning without fail. During finals week (the week that requires the most rest for the average student), the trucks have been coming from 12 to 1 a.m., when a good fraction of students would be asleep already. I had the privilege of speaking to a dumptruck driver just this evening, and he wholeheartedly agreed that the DRL's assigned hours for such events were absurd and inconsiderate.
tl;dr DRL assigns the horrible hours during which the dumptrucks can do their noisy shit, with absolutely no consideration of the residents nearby.
3. DRL kept the heat on in most residence halls through the last week of April, when it was very clear that the average temperatures would be rising drastically. The resulting combination of nearly 90° days and the indoor heating made living and sleeping in the dorm rooms nearly impossible and downright unhealthy for over a week. As the average human would know, heating also costs money--money that we and our guardians are giving to the University.
tl;dr DRL has simultaneously wasted our money and made our lives miserable.
META-TL;DR: DRL MUST BE PUT AT FAULT FOR THESE INSTANCES AND ALL OTHERS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY THEIR DOING. Once the summer begins, I hope to begin petitions to adjust DRL's regulations, as they are counterproductive, financially inconsiderate, and go against all that they should be working for: the life of the residents. If any of you have also been directly negatively affected by DRL, please comment so that the petitions can be well-rounded and a proper voice for all residents at UMD. Please keep in mind that a large percentage of you are giving a considerable amount of money to this University to be dicked by DRL on many an occasion.
