#8100 Reading the replies from confession
#8053 (about the SB massacre) is really disheartening. To see that some men are more concerned about being swept into a broad generalization than they are about how important the issues of male entitlement, misogyny, and violence against women are... it really makes me sad.
We live in a world where girls are raped and taken advantage of and then blamed for it because 'their skirt was too short' or 'they were wearing too much make up.' We live in a world where women have to endure cat calls from strange men and are expected to live up to elevated beauty standards... all the while getting paid LESS than men. It's really no wonder that women are more cautious around men when there is so much misogynistic crime occurring worldwide.
I am in no way saying that men can't fall victim to violence or that men don't live in fear, but it's really just not the same.
People who fail to see the need for feminism need to open their eyes. Feminism isn't about 'destroying' or 'taking down' men.. it's about making women and men EQUAL. Which is truly something that should already be happening in the world, but yet here we are.

#8098 Last summer, I fell in love with a girl. We went out together many times, we had a lot of fun, but it seemed like she would come and go and I didn't know what to make of it. I asked her to be mine, but she broke my heart and I never saw her again. That girl was you. You wished me a happy birthday and you started talking to me again--late night text messages and phone calls that would last for hours--you wanted me to meet your dad since you already introduced me to your mother; you wanted me to work out with you at your gym; and you wanted to make many more plans for the Spring and Summer. I didn't kiss you because I was confused. It didn't feel the same. I drew the boundaries and said we should just be friends. I realized later that I had hurt you, but you didn't want to talk. Instead, you came back and hurt me in ways unimaginable, spreading rumors and turning our friends against me. You had also taken away that which I cherished most, and more, but I will not show it lest I allow you to defeat me. I felt conflicted and depressed. I was naive in my disbelief that something like this could ever happen, that one person could turn my world upside-down, but truth can indeed be stranger than fiction. That girl I met last summer... I still love her and I believe I will find her again, but you are not her.

#8094 I secretly have a problem with all these students who take trips abroad during winter, summer or spring break with the goal of "helping people." Sometimes they spend $2,000, $3,000, or possibly even more for what amounts to a glorified vacation with very little actual aid/help being administered. I'm not condemning the ideals and purposes behind these trips because they are taken in the name of some worthy causes and some actually involve spending the entire time helping people with little to no "vacation" component. What makes me mad is, with millions of people suffering in various ways here in the United States, why do you have to spend thousands of dollars to take a trip abroad to "help people" when you could instead stay home and spend that money helping people right here in the United States, possibly without even leaving your hometown?
