Yesterday, my mom informed me that one of the head pastors of a church I used to go to is dying from a hole in his heart. How did this hole come about? It is a result of his antiviral medication he has been taking to treat malaria... which he got while on a mission trip to Africa. It is a tragic story, but one that I also find has a sort of amusing irony in it: he is dying as a result of serving the Lord, he has two daughters in middle school he will never see grow up, and he will end up leaving his family with a steep hospital bill when he goes. If there is one silver lining I can see in this story, it is that his story will serve as a poignant reminder of just how fickle God's compassion to his followers really is.

The longer I spend here, the more I realize George Fox is not a quaker university at all. It might have started as one, but it sure isn't anymore. I have never met more bigoted people than I have on this campus. Sure, I grew up in a liberal, welcoming community before coming here, but it is 2015 for goodness sake. I don't understand why some people are still so rude to people who are different from them. I came here because I was excited about going to a quaker university and I have been disappointed by the unfriendliness I have seen all around campus. If I wasn't so close to graduating, I would probably switch schools because I have been so disappointed. Get your act together, fox.

I wish I could live on campus but not have to attend school. That'd be nice.

I always feel like someone's watching me when I walk through the canyon at night

When I am literally forced to wear my stethoscope in chapel to prevent physical pain, it's waaaaay too loud.

Please, for the love of everything, hold it back a little with the volume knob! We sit in class learning about how hearing is destroyed and the surprisingly low levels of sound that can actually irreparably damage hearing. Then: we walk into chapel. Oh the irony.

Well, I'd like to thank SpIL for destroying 10 years of my hearing this morning in chapel. Why can't they just TURN IT DOWN a little???

In 8th grade I went to a movie with a boy and he asked me if I wanted a kiss. I was like "excuse me?!" and then he pulled some Hershey's kisses out of his coat pocket.

I like to snack on playdough. I absolutely love the taste of it.
