I'm a white person, and I've always wanted to ask this too a person of color in class but was afraid it would sound too offensive, so thank goodness for UNT confessions! Okay, here goes: When you experience racism, what does it physically feel like? Is it mainly stress? Is it physically painful? Is it like a moment that instantly makes you severely depressed? In my imagination (I can only imagine it, because I haven't felt this myself) I wonder if it feels almost like constantly fighting back a heartbreak feeling that wears on you, like, "I just wanted to experience a moment of humanity but I'm being treated like I'm not even human and this happens EVERY DAY". Is that accurate? Does it feel even worse at times?
