While I commend you for putting in the effort to get in or stay in shape, I hate to see anyone waste their time at the gym. Holding onto the sides (walking incline, stair master, anything) relieves your legs of the work, leaving you with fewer calories burned and less improvement to be made. Do a level that is manageable or push through. You have to be willing to be uncomfortable if you want to see results!
