#6653 My roommate's political beliefs make me want to vomit. She thinks that I share her beliefs so she talks about politics a lot...it takes all I have not to scream.

#6649 More people should really consider dating outside of their race/religion. Too often, I see people strictly just trying to date within their own spectrum (hate to call them out, but in general asians and jewish people tend to be the biggest perpetrators). As long as you get along with their personality, why does it even matter? I'm generally a good-looking and well-liked guy among the people I've met, but I'm black, and I've talked to girls at parties and at the bar and they act like it's a commoner talking to royalty.

#6648 I've had depression (or at least suicidal thoughts) since the age of 8 for reasons of which I won't explain. I think around age 13 or so, I finally accepted the fact that I won't ever really have the courage to kill myself. I just don't have the willpower to not try and find out what I might become. It's strangely phrased, but that's how I see it. So ever since then, I've always tried to act like I'm happy around my friends (and I'm pretty damn good at pretending like I am), even though I'm not. I'm just sad. Sorry for another downer confession, but idk, that's all I really think about when I'm alone. It's made school increasingly difficult, because all I want to do is lie down and just hold myself thinking about all of my problems until I finally fall to sleep. Then I go to class, don't really pay attention, workout, and then go to sleep. I'll probably repeat this cycle (or some similar version post-graduation) probably until I die. I know everyone will say "it's worth it, you'll find happiness at some point," but is it really? Is any of it really worth it if I'm not happy for the next 20-40 years? If I'm happy for only about 20% of my life and miserable for the other 80%, is there actually a point to it all? I'm another number on this planet. One out of billions. That's why if there was ever some immediate threat upon campus like I shooter, I'd do my best to stop him (or her, but there aren't a lot of female shooters) because I don't have the courage to end it myself; I need someone else to do it. My suicide (which will admittedly never happen, I've already decided) would affect only about 200 people at all, and while maybe to 20, it would be devastating, they'd move on. We all do. Idk, this confession kinda ran into a tangent, sorry.

#6647 I have been suffering from depression for nearly 3 years now, and towards the end of last semester, I was in a pretty bad place. I decided to take this semester off in hopes of recovering, and being better equipped to handle the pressures of college. One night (almost two months), while I was visiting UMD, I met this guy at Bentley's. I know his name, but I won't put him on the spot. All I will say is that his name is in the title of an early 1990's comedy. Anyway, I was just standing there and motioned for me to come over to him. I walked over to him and he said, " I can see right through you. Everyone thinks you're happy, but I know you're really bummed out right now. You have to cheer up. You seem like an awesome person. You just gotta do what you love." Although he was probably in a very drunken and/or high state, I felt inspired to really try and get better. Since visiting UMD, I decided to get more involved in the things that interest me, and I am now in the midst of starting my own business. Although you probably don't remember me, thank you drunken stranger for giving me the motivation to do what I love.

#6646 Whenever I decide to shoplift, I always make sure to go through the stolen goods detector at the same time as a black guy knowing that they will be more likely to grab him than me.
