Working so many hours to afford a social life that you no longer have time for. Big exams because professors would rather us memorize information than apply it in assignments so they have less grading to do. Schools caring more about popping out good GPAs than making classes relevant and comprehendible. We're barely taught how to write, speak, or interact well but thank god we can program inanimate objects, recite the periodic table, or distinguish different parts of the brain. Some of us worry about affording the next semester while others worry about just passing this one. I'm about to graduate but I don't feel ready at all. Don't get me wrong: I love UMD, this is a rant towards college in general. We're paying thousands of dollars a year to be judged on how well we fill in bubbles? The fact that my GPA has come to matter more than my learning quality and experience is honestly disgusting.
