#8078 It's so fucking irritating when people say that Elliot Rogers doesn't or didn't deserve sympathy or compassion. Everybody deserves it. Especially him. I feel so incredibly bad for the kid that he felt the need to take lives. That he was so misguided to believe that he was owed something. To not being able to handle the way society is with rejection and acceptance. Compassion and sympathy should be shown to everybody, even those who've done terrible things. He was still a human being who felt so consumed by his feelings that he did absolutely horrible things. But he's still a person. Maybe a little compassion would have helped in the first place.

#8076 I posted a few months ago about being worried I smoke too much weed and have an addiction with it. While smoking, I actually didn't have that many problems, in fact things were kinda great. I was able to eat regularly, sleep regularly, and fuck like a champ, among other benefits. Now that summer has come and I decided to detox over the summer, the withdrawals are killing me (figuratively). I have no appetite, I can fall asleep but I can't stay asleep, I sweat a lot more, I have a lot of mood swings, I feel like I'm anxiously high (as opposed to being calm and feeling in control of my body when I regularly smoked). I've almost lost 10 pounds since I quit smoking (I'm pretty skinny as it is). It sucks, but I know it'll be so much better once my body fixes itself, it just really sucks right now. And to top it off, I really miss my girlfriend who's over 1500 miles away.

#8074 So first of all I should probably say that I just finished freshman year. First semester I did kind of bad but then did much better this semester. My other friends managed to do very well first semester w/ barley trying. I dont think it was because I got used to college but more because I focused a lot a lot more on my grades rather than the material.
Have you ever heard that if you work hard the good grades will follow? One of the things UMD has taught me is that this is brutally false. It really irritates me that when I work the hardest, busting my ass, its often not shown proportionally to everything else. But within the same effort classes I can just focus more on the grade than the material and be more successful. I feel like the system in a way is screwed, the way your grade is so strongly based on the professor teaching the course and how common syllabus inadequately weights the final grade in respect to what really shows a persons effort/intelligence.
