#8213 I feel that regarding the rape issue, when sometimes a girl gets raped, it is partially her fault. While the fault may be overwhelmingly the rapist's fault, there are steps that can be taken to minimize a girl's chance of getting raped. For example, going out in groups, not binge drinking, and not wearing extremely suggestive clothing. For me, a similiar analogy comes to mine when crossing the street. If the pedestrian light is green, you have right of way, but you should still look both directions before you cross. If you get hit, yes, it is overwhelmingly the driver's fault, but at the same time, it could have been easily mitigated by simply looking in both directions. This post will generate a lot of hate, but seriously, fuck you butthurt motherfuckers.

#8211 Let's talk about UMD wireless. I saw a few posts about this and as a senior I'm gonna give you the gist of things.

The speed of wireless internet when I was a freshman was 130 mbps. Yep, that's right, I was damn amazed at the blazing speeds. Downloading a 1GB file in less than 2 minutes. Felt good man. They throttled the data. They lowered the speeds. Not by a little, but by 5x. That really sucks. They also increased the prices of dorming.

Not gonna say anything more about it. You can figure things out from here

#8210 Why are we making excuses for Elliot Rodger? Instead of just saying that he was a bad person, we say that mental illness contributed to his violent actions. But we usually don't make these excuses for other killers, like drug dealers who are more likely to suffer from mental problems because they tend to have a rougher upbringing and be subject to violence growing up. In fact, most people who suffer with mental illnesses are more likely to be victims of violence rather than commit violent acts themselves with the exception of schizophrenia. I feel like that a rich person does some one does something shitty, we say that it must have been because of psychological issues because they are "normal" but the disadvantaged minorities are just bad seeds.
I feel like explained my feelings too ineloquently, but ya feel me bruh?

#8209 @#8166 as a 5'7'' male, I feel your pain, especially having a bunch of friends that are 6'+. My advice to you is to embrace it. The quality of your character is what really matters

#8208 I hate how it has become "cool" to dislike music artists like Nickelback and J. Biebs. I don't have a single Nickelback song on my ipod, but I would still say they are more talented than half of the pop/rap artists out there now. Same goes for Bieber. When he was first getting popular...yeah he had a dooshy haircut and made some cheesy ass songs, but the kid had some talent. Look at his first youtube vids. He was a nice ass kid but everyone made fun of him, even fucking booed him when he was at basketball games when he never said a bad thing toward anyone. No surprise he turned into the douche he is today and I don't blame him. And I say this all as a dude who primarily listens to metal

#8207 Ladies,

The following are among the most important lessons I have learned in college.

When sex is on the table, men become oblivious to all else and do not naturally pick up on subtle messages or vague cues.

If you aren't ready to go past first, second, or third base with a guy, make that crystal clear with him from the outset. Don't wait for him to ask you for consent, because most college guys probably won't. If he doesn't, it's your responsibility to make it known. If he's a decent person, he will only go as far as lead him to believe that he can.

This is the importance of strong personal boundaries. Ask yourself how far you'd be willing to go with a guy who wasn't your boyfriend, and make that your rule. Stick to it and enforce it.

The impact of not having boundaries is huge. The guy thinks sex is no big deal, but the girl leaves feeling used, violated, and cheapened. It's traumatic to feel that way. Sometimes traumatic enough to make a woman wonder whether she was just sexual assaulted (much to the guy's surprise later on)

So many women are still hurting because they "went with the flow", and didn't put their foot down when the flow went too far. Simply speaking from experience.

Protect yourself. Naivete isn't a long-term defense.

Good luck to you all.
