#8316 Sometimes I really question what the Economics major actually helps me do. Some may say it "helps you think analytically" and "shows employers you know how to solve complex problems." Ok, maybe. But half the time I'm just memorizing formulas and principles that have practically no use in the real world. Admittedly Econ is a liberal arts major, so it's focus is not going to be on hard practicality; however, if an employer one day asked me to, say, "assemble this data here, analyze it, then examine where in our budget we should shift resources," it would be far more useful to me to have had a major like information systems, or even finance.

Ok, so this isn't all ranting. What I really want to know is this: in what respect does an Econ major really shine to employers? (Other than being good at solving hypothetical micro or macro problems that are very simple at the undergrad level) In what ways can Econ be better than any business school major in terms of real workable knowledge? THAKNS!
