#8349 For all of the people that think being gay or bisexual is an "abomination unto the Lord", let's have a quick talk. I am Catholic, I am straight, and I am a supporter of gay marriage. One of those three is a lie because according to the Catholic doctrine, a person who supports the opposition of the major beliefs of the church (gay marriage, abortion, etc) fails to be a Catholic. Guess that means I am not Catholic. And I guess that means that the 59% of Catholics that support gay marriage must not be Catholic either (Public Religion Research Institute Poll). So that makes me straight, and a supporter of gay-marriage. There is one more thing that I am: the friend of a suicide victim because of her sexual orientation and harsh treatment from her family that left her on the streets virtually homeless for 2 days before she killed herself. 1) By now it is a known FACT that sexual orientation is NOT a choice (American Psychological Association). 2) The Catholic church and the catholic family of my friend has created a stigma so deeply inherited into our society that even those of us who practice the faith question the existence of a God. 3) Whether or not it is your belief, as humans, it is our duty to "love one another" and be respectful of the life and sanctity of another. How is it possible for a 17 year old girl with such a bright future ahead to be dead because she had the courage and grace to tell her parents about one of the milestones of a teenager's life- her first kiss? How is it possible for us to question whether or not someone is "faking" their sexuality when we can all agree that being gay/lesbian or bisexual is a visibly harder lifestyle in several aspects? If you think our society has improved in acceptance of homosexuality, you're only about 2% correct. 78 countries still find homosexuality (not marriage, the orientation itself) to be ILLEGAL and a CRIMINAL offence, while 43% of Americans find it to be "morally wrong" (Avert.org). My grandma used to say, "when you're afraid, especially of something you know nothing about, fear is a natural reaction". She was right. Read a website, start with the American Psychological Association, become familiar with homosexuality and bisexuality as they exist in our neighborhoods, our families, and in our friends, and be OPEN to the truth. It is not a choice, it is not an abomination, and if you think God meant for my friend to die for her sin, I wouldn't be too quick to point fingers at who is Catholic and who is not... There is always room for re-evaluation, please let's start now.

#8348 I don't respect people who complain about the +/- system. Seriously, it's the same for everyone, and most other schools go by it, so stop whining. There's a huge difference between getting an 80 vs. 85 vs. 89 in a class and it should be treated as such.

#8347 Why is it that so many heterosexual females treat gays as a collectible item. I'm all for making genuine friendships but it's kind of annoying every time a girl is like "OMG you're going to be my new GBF!!" like TF? Anyways i just need to be surrounded by more gays and less girls

#8344 I'm dating a pretentious asshole. He thinks he needs to help the world or something, which he does through "insightful" facebook updates. It's ridiculous, but I love it because it's just so fucking hilarious.

#8342 I fucking hate the people who complain about the +/- grading system. I'm sorry that you don't think you should get the grades you deserve. Someone who gets an 82 should not receive the same grade as someone who got a 87. You're as ass if you think that those grades should receive the same amount of credit. This isn't coming from a straight A student either, I have a 2.7 and I know damn well its my fault for that GPA, not the system.
