I don’t understand why women put so much more emphasis on their self-image than men. I know the obvious answer is because society overwhelmingly pressures women to fit a certain standard of beauty but don’t women perpetuate and even abide by these standards when they choose to dress in revealing clothing? Having a man or a woman wear whatever they want and forcing others not to think of them in a sexual connotation despite the fact that they display themselves in such a manner goes against common sense. You can’t expect everybody around you to simply suspend their judgment and reasoning of you if you wear scant clothing. If men wore skimpy clothing like women do, they would get the same reaction and probably worse glares because they’re supposed to cover up and be respectable; the same applies to women which is why they get criticism when they dress revealingly. Then the comment about not being shamed for your body comes up but just because you can’t prance around in your bra in public doesn’t mean we’re shaming you. If you need to do that in public then that just shows you need reassurance from others to satisfy your insecurity. I get the strong sense that people who wear things in a proactive manner seem like they’re trying to be accepted by the superficial standards of society as opposed to defy them. You think all of the latest fashion trends of yoga pants and short shorts or w.e. are supposed to dignify a woman? It’s just cheap and superficial crap that sells because sex sells and those who wear them get the attention they want. There’s a certain level of dignity to those who dress moderately and respectably and this applies to both men and women.

#8436 I met this guy at the beginning of this semester and we sort of became friends then I started to develop feelings for him and it just didn't seen like he reciprocated (but I felt like he would sometimes send signals) and I started to try and kind of show him how I felt and I think that made him stop talking to me more and now things are kind of just weird and I still feel like I'm bothering him when I talk to him and I don't know where we're left but I still really like him and I don't know what to do.

He then proceeds to talk shit about my 3.9 GPA as a business major and how i am only silver 3. LIKE WTF?? WHo gives a fuck.
