#8558 I fucking hate hook up culture. It's idiotic. It makes people think that other people are just there for a quicky. I've met people (guy and girls) who are selfish with hook up because it doesn't matter to them. It's also dangerous if you do one night stands. You don't know where the hell that persons been, and people often skip over that whole STI stuff in the heat of the moment. If you don't do one night stands but would rather have a hook up buddy, then that's just awkward. People end up feeling romantic for each other when the other person doesn't, and it creates these ambiguous circumstances when people don't know if they are dating a person or that person is just in it for the sex. I've read a lot of confessions and heard from friends, "I like this guy and we hooked up but I don't know if it was just a hook up or like a real thing, you know?" It's ridiculous and just makes us disrespect and disregard our bodies and how personal they are. I expect there will be people saying, "oh this OP is just upset cause they didn't get some last night." No. I have only ever "gotten with" one person and am in steady, long term relationship with them. Also, I "got with them" after we had already agreed to be a couple. It wasn't one of those stupid wake-up-the-next-morning things where we just looked at each other and said "well, I guess we're dating, right?" "Ok". Sex should be important to the people having it. It should be an exploration and caring for your partner. We (the sexually active populace) should learn each other's bodies and relate to each other. We should put labels on relationships to avoid the emotional uncertainty and the typical drama that goes with it. It should be with someone that gives a shit about your body and its pleasures, not someone you met two minutes ago before you sucked his cock or fingered her in the bathroom.Sex should be a many sit down meal not grabbing a Starbucks.

#8557 I have an obsession with pekkle. I want to ask my friends to call me pekkle but I'm worried that they will judge me. Does anyone else like pekkle?

#8556 When is it appropriate to say "I love you" for the first time in relationship to your boyfriend/girlfriend? How soon is too soon? I feel like it depends on how much you mean it but sometimes I hear people can say It with not really emphasizing the love part like "I love you has just become a saying means hardly anything anymore.

#8554 I'm a business major, senior, doubling in finance and accounting.
I think the biggest misconception that people think the stuff we learn in business classes are highly relevant to the business world. Sure there are some aspects that help our understanding but it's nothing we can't learn easily on our own in a shorter time.
Business, in short, tests your people skills, evaluation, and competency in "understanding how the world works."
First thing we learn as business majors is that you don't need a high gpa to succeed unless you're going for a 130k starting salary. But you can't have lower than a 3.2 or you will have a tough time finding anything more than a 40k start, unless you're really on top of your extracurriculars.
Second thing we learn is that the difficulty of classes is not the content, it's getting the content correct respective to the professor. The majority of classes test "what is the answer closest to the truth" and true-false questions, which are typically written to trick you. It sounds simple but the moment you realize there are 120 definitions or processes to memorize in every exam and every class it's very easy to get things mixed up.
We learn one mistake can cost you big time. Most of the exam will be painfully easy. No problem getting a perfect score there. But around 20% of it will be tricky. That 20% might be a mere 5 problems. Or in some cases, three multiple choice. There's a reason many people don't do well despite being absolute geniuses, because sometimes it's just improbable to memorize everything perfectly.
I have an internship with a $32/hr salary. I barely have a 3.5. You know what they said? They love my people skills (I had none two years ago), and I don't need to know jack squat before working for them. They'll teach everything to me during training.
So yes business is easy as hell, it's also opportunistic as hell, and we basically milk the world for money. But hey you chose to work super hard and have so many painful weeks for your majors so, I mean, who's fault is that? And no, you can't just join business and get a good job... You'll definitely get a job but you better be damn good at people skills and first impression persuasion, and pretending things in your resume are better than they actually are.

#8553 For people who have lived in south campus commons and/or been re-leasers/sub-leasers:
This is pissing me off. The people my friend and I are subleasing from (legally) left the apartment in bad condition. There's stuff on the walls, mold in the bathroom, stained fridge, a dirty kitchen and a pretty bad living room. The bedroom is all right, and I guess that's the only thing the office checks. Since the apt is transferred to our names now, is south campus commons going to charge us?? There's a room condition report, but that doesn't include the living room and bathroom, right? And are commons apts usually this bad...?

#8551 Money does buy happiness. I could solve all my problems and my family's problems right now if I had several million dollars. If you disagree, you've most likely had a much more comfortable upbringing than I have.
