#8673 Can someone tell me what is so great about the World Cup or rather soccer as a sport? Don't say because of the hype because what I'm wondering is how does soccer gain so much popularity that it has its own world-wide competition when basketball seems so much more entertaining? The only legitimate reason I can think of is the accessibility of the sport (2 net goals on the ground, a ball, and a field).

#8672 Whenever my (best) friend gets a new boyfriend she completely disappears and ignores me; only talking to me if she needs help with homework or advice. Never asks about my life, focuses solely on hers. It's getting old. Newsflash: I'm not gonna keep waiting around, you're pushing me away whether you realize it or not. I have other people that actually care and are worth my time.

#8671 I think slightly chubby guys (like, maybe a bit of a belly, nothing too extreme) are more attractive than ripped muscular guys. Soft bellies make the best pillows! :3
Also, fuzzy guys are adorable.

#8669 I think people are generally messed up. I may be speaking for myself, but I think most people are just products of their favorite television characters. You see a cool, witty character and you try to emulate them.
I have a bunch of friends who after finishing the Wolf of Wall Street began worshipping the main character. They left with the impression that the guy was a legend not some deviant monster. They then tried to emulate him in every way possible. They wanted to try drugs more and more since they thought drugs were the secret to his power. But this isn't only an isolated case. I have friends who worship Steve Jobs and tried taking LSD.
But are they wrong? Most famous and great people have been under the influence of some kind of drug. Sure, there are more people who have messed up their lives with drugs then succeeded. But all great, legendary musicians, authors, and creative have dabbled with mind-altering drugs.
This isn't limited to drugs of course. Superficial girls are driven by their favorite Gossip Girl character and the pot heads are driven by the misunderstood, deep character.
Everyone is fake. Every personality is an image, a reflection of how people want to be perceived. I am equally guilty of this.
But here I am confusing a confession with philosophy. I'm writing an article about this and guess would like some thought.

#8668 Am I the only person who thinks its weird that a common response to the greeting "whats up" is just another "whats up"? It doesn't answer the question. I do it too but its like a force of habit.

#8667 It took me way too long to realize that there is no one and nothing in the world more important to me than my brother. We had such a bad time with out pre-teen and teenage years and were totally nasty to each other for no good reason, even though we got along great as kids. I wish I'd been mature enough to realize that being a good sister was more important than my teen angst and paid him more attention. Now he's graduated from HS and I'm graduating from college next semester after living at home the whole time, so we'll be going our separate ways really soon and it makes me really sad because we're finally growing back together and starting to enjoy each other's company again and I wish I'd taken more advantage of the time we had together.

#8666 There's one person I keep thinking about, but out of guilt more than anything else.
There's this girl who's a rising soph, like me, who also went to my high school. She liked me a lot in high school and tried her best to show me how she felt in 11th grade. I was super busy as an 11th grader and unfortunately was dealing with some depressing stuff (like the death of my favorite uncle). I wasn't really close to this girl, even though she tried to make us close, so I sort of ignored her attempts to get me so I could deal with my own shit.
We stayed friends to some extent after that year. Our friendship slowly got stronger after that. Then high school ended and we both came here. I got a girlfriend a few months ago, but didn't tell her about it immediately. Three weeks ago, I let her know I was dating someone and she said like it was cool, but she was oddly weird and nervous for the rest of that conversation. Then she stopped talking to me as frequently as she did before and stopped doing things w/ me after class. My friends say that she still likes me, but I don't know what to think. If I confront her about it, we could lose our friendship, which I value. If I say nothing, I'll keep feeling like a guilty coward. Fuckin sucks.
