My confession: I support euthanasia of the severely mentally handicapped (severe autism, downs, etc.) as soon as they're diagnosed (not the ones already living, just the ones who are born or newly diagnosed within say 10 years). People say I'm selfish for thinking this because it would mean killing their newborn baby or child. I say they are the selfish ones. The severely mentally handicapped are a constant burden on individuals and society as a whole. Millions are spent each year coddling them and trying to change society to accommodate them. Millions that could be spent on much more productive things. We support them through their lives, but for what? They can't get a job, they can't pay taxes, they can't do anything themselves besides drool. They are meatsacks and leeches on everybody else, and for that reason I say the ones supporting them are the truely selfish.
