With the arguments I heard today, I want one thing to be made clear. Religion can provide a decent, and potentially even a great moral framework to live by. However, a moral framework does NOT equate to an education, as I've heard claimed today. An education, at least as I understand it, is the willingness to be intellectually challenged and to better understand how the world works, not to assume the world works in 'mysterious ways' and that everything we don't understand goes back to God. As someone who was a Methodist growing up, but now lives by the standard of "don't be an asshole," this is the one point I feel like making.
