#29746 Starting with a confession: The only time my parents have ever told me that they loved me was via email :) You can actually see the sadness in that emoji.
In response to the commenters of
#29630, (not the OP btw). First off, he hasn't been to Arby's so obviously, his comments are invalid. Moving on, critiquing a country or its policies aren't necessarily wrong. It opens a door for conversation, but if your instant response is "what about your country?" then that doesn't really fix anything. It just shifts the blame somewhere else and lets you avoid examining the issue.
Yeah, I am an international student but personally, I have no attachment to any country so you can go ahead and talk shit about mine, I'm not going to cry about it.
Regarding: Why do you come here then? I think one of the big reasons is the "name" and the "prestige" associated with the university. For instance, during my first year, my tuition was $46,000 (more or less). I think the amount itself is ludicrous and at this time I am pretty much forced to look for a job here because the wages in my field are quite high and it would be the one way to pay off loans etc. I don't think the education itself is bad, but I don't think that it's worth the cost.
Another big reason for a lot of international students is that they have to be able to provide for their family back home and you often do that by studying abroad and staying abroad solely due to the difference in cost of living and exchange rates.
