#13580 My 2 cents to the whole tipping v/s non-tipping customs.

Boilermakers, Realize the true enemy: Its the employers. Its the duty of employers to pay their workers appropriately for the work they do. They fail to do that and shift the burden of providing the delivery guy/waiter a decent livelihood to customers expecting them to make up for the difference of what they are to make vs what they are making with the tips they receive.

Tips are meant to be a rewards in addition to the charge for the service provided. But, Employers are using it as a way to increase their own profits by reducing their expenditure by not paying their employees sufficiently and guilting the customers to bear the costs of the difference for them. Restaurants in particular also charge a delivery fee. What is that?

Lets say I order a Dominos Pizza for Delivery. Dominos chefs go through corporate process of making the pizza and we pay the price that accounts from materials, labor hours, R&D. An employee named XYZ uses a car to drive it from the store to my home. I pay him a price for this convenient service(Tip) and we part ways. So, Where did the delivery fee come from and why am I paying it to the restaurant. Delivery Fee, if any, should go to the employee and this is just a way of employers exploiting both customers and employees.

Employers make money leaving employees and customers to fight hard for their money leading to a spiral of shitty service and poor tipping behavior.

Other effects of Tipping behavior.
Americans follow tipping a lot and when we travel abroad, we start offering tips to the tour guides etc., and getting them accustomed to tips and the mentioned tour guides start expecting tips from other nationals who are not aware of the tipping customs. This also leads to the false stereotypes like Asians don't tip etc.,

#13613 Rant/Confession: I believe we as a nation have hit a recent high for racism in the country. It pains me to see African Americans fight for the dead of one killed by a white police officer while hundreds are killed by other African Americans/Whites/Minorities and go unnoticed. Why is it that we care about 1 who was killed regardless of if it was right or wrong versus the dozens killed each day due to gang violence??

Real Confession: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson do more to promote racism than help. All they do is stir the pot and draw lines in the sand. Think Mr. Al is a saint and helps fight racism? google some of the things these clowns have said. My favorite gem is:

Not only does he speak like an uneducated man but he also spews facts like an uneducated man.

Following one of these clowns doesnt progress us in a better way. Racism will end when color isnt the first thing that comes to mind or when it doesnt matter. As Morgan Freeman said, "Stop talking about it". Out of sight out of mind.
