#30524 Ways to lessen gun violence:

1. Change legislation to make guns less accessible legally.
2. Character checks including mental health history and a long-ass exam to make sure you are not an extremist in any way and to make sure you know how to use a gun properly.
3. Prohibit sales of any automatic assault weapons. Shotgun can be reasonably used for protection. AK 47 is literally overkill
4. Incentives to turn in illegally obtained weapons. This could help with that "banning guns won't get rid of the illegal ones" argument.
5. Discourage the glorification of violence in media and literature. This is coming from someone who watches more crime and action shows than anything else.
6. Encourage proper mental health and emotional wellness. Let's deal with our problems but also let's deal with our problems.
7. If you have a child or young adult in your house, lock up the guns in such a way that nobody can take them out but you.
8. Encourage healthier gun activities, like hunting.
9. Don't follow a divided point of view when it comes to guns. They have their places and we need to treat them like the dangerous tools they are. Swearing them off or worshipping them is not the answer.
10. Understand that solutions are found in compromise. If you are unwilling to give in and find a middle ground, no progress can be made. Especially in legislation.

Notice that I didn't say guns are at fault. I did not say that sensitive snowflakes are at fault. I didn't tell you to pray. I didn't tell you to put away your prayers. I listed off potential paths towards lessening gun violence.

Please guys, let's work towards solutions.
