#30500 To #30490, you should actually go and check out each of those mass shootings. A mass shooting means more than one person was hurt or killed. Most of them didn't even have fatalities and some didn't even have injuries. It was a tragedy with what happened in Florida, and it should be dealt with, but the number of mass shootings shouldn't be made larger just to make a point. It gives a false statistic, plus it lowers the effect of what actually was a mass shooting.
To go with your overall point, yes there should be some restrictions on laws, but involving the people, not the guns. Have more background checks, check for mental illnesses. We shouldn't stop citizens from having a chance to protect themselves and their families from such a disaster happening. The only thing that would happen with extra gun control laws is that good citizens won't be able to have guns because they're the ones who obey the laws. It may be harder for criminals to get guns, but they'll find a way if they want to go through with it.

#30501 So yesterday, I decided to brave it out and go to the cactus by myself. More as an experiment than anything to see what it would be like.

Here's some things I noticed -
1. Every time I go up to a girl who looks single to ask her if she'd like to dance, I inherently feel like a creep. I suppose the act of wanting to dance with a girl you don't know while being a lone guy in a club seems creepy in itself. The fact that a girl pointed at her friends and said we're all married doesn't help :D. But that was funny.

2. People have varied levels of friendliness. Some women can be very sweet and chat with you for a few minutes even if they don't know you. The cactus is obviously not the best place to chat. Trying to tag along with these people who are nice to you feels creepy again.

3. People watching notes: Single people oddly don't stick around each other for too long. They will dance for a while until one person leaves to be replaced by someone else. Even people who look like they're having a great time together.

4. Guys are the best at making another guy feel comfortable. There's nothing more comforting when you're alone than have a bro smile back at you and say a few drunk nice things.

5. Everyone looks quite funny by themselves but it's good to see people without any inhibitions.

6. Is the only way to not feel like a creep there to go with a group of friends? Maybe.
Or hang out in a corner and don't bother anyone. The spot tavern is the place for loners.

#30527 # 30490 I would be interested in knowing what your source is because according to http://www.businessinsider.com/how-many-mass-shootings-in-america-this-year-2018-2 the shooting at Parkland High School makes the 30th mass shooting. I would also like to know why we haven't heard as much about the other 29 shootings???

#30532 I don’t know if my opinions on the whole gun control issue are valid or not. First and foremost, I am liberal. Whether that alone makes me an asshat to you is your own opinion and I couldn’t give less of a shit. Second, I wish I was more educated about guns. I was not raised with guns in my house, except for a basic shot gun (I think? Like I said, my knowledge of guns is pathetic). My parents taught me and my siblings martial arts, specifically aikido, as our means of personal self defense. My dad did run some basic gun safety knowledge through to me, but it’s been so long I couldn’t even shoot a gun off the bat if I tried to make it look like I knew what I was doing. So, this is what I mean when I say I wish I was more educated on them because then maybe my opinion on the gun issue would be different. I think almost any sane individual could agree that mentally ill people should not be able to have guns- or at least they should go through some sort of regular mental health checkups/ or extra precautionary screenings to insure their own and others safety while possessing and using said gun- primarily highly powered guns that shoot multiple rounds in a very short amount of time...like an AR-15. I’ve seen people explain to other uneducated folks that an AR-15 is not an assault rifle, not military grade or whatever, and that it’s a sporting gun. And while I would like to know more about guns, I couldn’t give a shit about where the hell the name of the gun originates from. If this weapon is causing the mass murder of children, teachers, basic civilians at the rate that they are in America, I personally think they should be made very difficult to attain- if at all. Yea, yea, I know it’s your “right” to own firearms, but when they have been the weapon of choice for majority of shootings in America, I think something needs to change. Then again, I only know what I see on the news, so maybe an AR-15 isn’t the weapon of choice through most of the shootings that have happened here. I don’t know...I wish there was a basic solution to this. Yes, investing into mental health programs and such might help, but I wish we had an easy solution to this. Myself, and I think most can agree, am so tired of seeing people die like this. I am tired of the population being numb to it, it makes a pain in my heart. I have a little boy and girl, and I worry so hard about raising him in a world like this. Can I even feel safe sending them to school? I see the news and all I can think of is that those people injured and killed are someone’s baby. I look to my babies and I just want to take the day off and hold them/smother them/love them because those parents did not know that that was the last time they’d ever see their babies alive, or not mentally scared for life. It hurts me something strong in my heart.
