I've been with my boyfriend for almost the same amount of time and he is also an engineer. His emotions range from taking everything as a joke to sentimental-with no in between. He hasn't said "the L word" either. However, I have accidentally. Don't feel inadequate because he hasn't said it yet. It's a big step and if he is often nonchalant about feelings he could feel insecure in terms of wanting to be vulnerable. I mean after all, it's terrifying to admit to someone that you love them and would do anything for them, because they might not feel the same way. I'm going to be bold and say if you feel like you are ready to say it, then say it. Life is too short to not take chances (I really need to take my own advice here). As for your friends reaching this step before you, just be happy for them. And also don't feel pressure to reach this same level just because they have. It's easy to feel pressure from friends sometimes, but I assure you relationships are individualistic and unique to one another. #20574 We Americans are lucky. We were born here, and therefore have no reason to be booted out or prevented entrance into this country. This is quite a safe country for us and we can live pretty comfortable lives. The refugees on the other hand come from a country torn by war and violence, attempting to escape said war and violence. They just want to be safe, and in searching for safety, they look to countries like the U.S. yet we turn them away because of our cowardice and xenophobia. So, they're essentially stuck in a hole that they cannot escape.
