#20589 I just saw the "we stand with mizzou" document (tinyurl.com/pcgk8cs). I am a graduate student and a foreign national. A brown-skinned one too. The only racism I have experienced here is from random rednecks driving by on pickup trucks or drunk frat boys yelling crap out of cars. And this has happened maybe 2-3 times in the 3 years I have been here and every time I flipped them off right back. I would hardly call it institutionalized racism.

All the faculty I have met here including my advisor (who is white) don't give a crap about my skin color. I have been given equal opportunities for funding, internships etc. (except in those cases where it was restricted to US citizens for some reason). I am evaluated on the basis of my work and not what I look like or where I am from, and I really appreciate that about this place.

I don't know what the hell these people are talking about or what they expect Purdue to do about it.

Minorities have greater opportunities than white people due to the laws and policies in place requiring Purdue to have certain numbers and organizations. Yes, minorities may be underrepresented in PSG, but do they run? no. There are numerous organizations that I'm not allowed to be apart of because i'm white that minorities are automatically included in. For example, black fraternities and sororities, etc. If you want to be involved then get yourself involved. There is no need for us to set a golden pathway for you. This is ridiculous

#20585 I hate it when cars stop for me when I'm waiting at crosswalks. In the time it takes for me to determine whether the driver is stopping or just slowing down, they could've passed by me already. Drivers, don't wait for pedestrians. You're wasting your time and theirs.
