I did the post stating why not just call gay marriage a different term. First of all I'm all for gay rights and believe they should be able to get married and do anything anyone else can do. What I was getting at is that instead of fighting the bigoted religious people, or any people really, who are preventing you from having the same rights just because of a term why not say screw you I'll do it my own way. You would have the same privileges now instead of fighting for years to come. In my mind if you love someone and all you want to be able to do is take care of that person to the best of your ability, which the rights of marriage helps with, then why would you let one word stop you from that. This fits perfectly "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". Meaning just because you call it something else if it's the same ultimately it doesn't matter. All your doing right now is giving a single word power over your life. As we all should of realized by now those who have their ideas about something are not quick to change. Oh and for the civil rights comparison of same but equal is bad the only thing this would affect is a right nothing physical or tangible so other than the thought in your head thinking it's different it's the same.
