So for the past two nights, this girl in my hall has come into my room and told me to be quiet and turn off my lights.. I've been friendly and trying to start a conversation but they exclude me. I don't need to be best friends with them but I have not done anything to offend them. I know that they are judging me based on my appearance. I am not some dumb Mexican that they can talk down to. What do I do?

Freshmen, go to all the stupid welcome to college events, and then to the even stupider get to know you games/get togethers after said events. I sat in a way too crowded room playing apples to apples and met my two best friends the saturday before college started. The night was awkward as hell but it's been 3 years and we're still thick as thieves. Go out of your way to be friendly to those you meet and you might just find your best friends.
