This being said, claiming that it perpetuates rape culture is blowing it out of proportion. Again, this is definitely a double standard that should be changed, but don't try to tie this to rape. I understand that there is this whole "women need to cover up more to prevent it" bullshit, but the amount of people who actually believe this is minescule. Additionally, anyone who justifies rape through any reasoning, let alone clothing, is a sick-minded idiot. They won't suddenly stop doing the things they do if this double standard for dress is suddenly gone. If anything, more completely bogus rationale will be raised.

I agree that there is a bullshit double standard here, but claiming that this perpetuates rape culture is taking away from the more serious issues behind rape. If you want this issue taken more seriously, I suggest keeping it within the double standard argument. A good percentage of the people who read your post were probably in agreeance and cared a bit, until you said that. Just my thoughts.

Also, if you have an opinion about the ASMSU President's DUI, good for you either way... I can't say it's a battle I care to choose. If you're one of the people who has been complaining about all of the posts about her, just keep scrolling. "I can't believe all of these people keeping posting about something they have a strong opinion about." Seriously?
