#494 I saw on one of the RA bulletin boards the following: "everyone has a right to mutually consensual sexual experiences." While I certainly hope that everyone does have positive sexual experiences, I think that characterizing sex as a right is misguided. The truth is that some people, for whatever reason, will not be able to find a willing sexual partner. Saying that these peoples' rights are being impinged upon paints them as oppressed, and the only possible oppressor is the one(s) who reject the "oppressed"'s affections. The whole idea reeks to me of the "friend-zone"-- people thinking that they are entitled to sex or romance. If you are unpleasant to be around, you will probably not have many friends. If you are some combination of unpleasant, awkward, and unattractive, it is possible that nobody will want to sleep with you. That, quite frankly, sucks for you, and I'm sorry. But what alternative would you suggest?
