About a week ago, a group of people that I have been very close friends with for the past 3 years here found out that I don't believe in a god, or really associate with Christianity at all. It had never come up in conversation, and I don't see myself as a "preachy atheist", so I've never really had a reason to tell them. These were the same people I have gone to chapel with on several occasions, taken religion courses with, and spent a lot of time with in general. But one seemingly small thing has essentially destroyed our friendship. I didn't look down on them for following a religion, so why should they look down on me for choosing not to? What is wrong with people?
