To those that are going to rush:
I did that a few years ago. Then the next school year I went on foreign term in the fall and when I got back for winter term my frat completely forgot about me. I literally got asked "what are you doing here?" when I showed up to the group's first event winter term. That was the last event I went to. So much for brotherhood and all that crap. You're gonna get a lot of people telling you to rush, but don't feel pressured to do so thinking you need to do it to get involved. My non frat brothers didn't forget about me when I got back from winter term.

stylish guy with the hair and the long coat and the red scarf, who are you? I see you all over campus, but I've never seen you talk to anyone! I just want to know your name, and if you're straight.

It really bothers me when people romanticize mental illnesses and psychological problems. Depression and anxiety aren't cute, self-harm scars are not beautiful, OCD is not a fancy term for "meticulous", and suicide isn't special. These are serious problems people struggle with, and when other people treat them like cool quirks, it both triggers me and horrifies me. Has anyone else encountered this? Because as someone who suffers from some of the problems mentioned above, I find it hard to believe that people do this. Bottom line, mental disorders aren't fun. At all.

I think Kendra Norman is the most beautiful, sweet, and sexy girl on the whole campus.

To the blonde girl everyone calls Jess, you seem pretty legit. I always see you at PepsiCo working out. You are beautiful and please continue squatting. Your legs are insane.

Well, Rush is almost upon us. This is for all freshmen and sophomores:
I made a similar post last year, but I want to say this again. As a member of one of the greek groups on campus, I just want to give one piece of advice: even if you have no urge to pledge a fraternity or sorority, at least go through rush. Your opinion may change. When I came to this school, I disliked greek life. I thought it was just bros and hoes acting better than everyone else. However, I got to know a lot of people in both sororities and fraternities. Greek life on this campus is not like in the movies. Most people are very down to earth. If they didn't have letters on their chests, you would never think that they are greek members. Plus, it's not just parties. Do not join if you think that it is. Yes, we have fun, but greek life is much more than that. Parties are everywhere, not just with fraternities or sororities.
No, you will not like everybody in every group. However, if you meet a group of guys or gals that you like spending time with, join them. I did. My opinion of greek life took a 180 and I do not regret joining one bit. I probably would have regretted not joining honestly (not saying you would). No one will hate you for joining and no one will hate you for not joining. Plus, rush is fun. And it's only, what, 30 bucks? Just keep an open mind the whole time. I went into it with the stereotypes about each group. After going through it, I realized that most stereotypes are bullhonky. My best friends are in my greek group, and I wouldn't trade a minute of my time with them for anything. We love seeing you guys in greek letters and we want to share our time at Augie with you.
Just a PSA from a fellow Augie Viking :)
