Here's the thing.
You are (almost) all hypocrites. On both sides. On the one side you have the conservative rhetoric that says, "suck it up, Trump's your president," because they've forgotten that they had
#NotMyPresident plastered all over their cars and motorbikes and Facebook walls and gun cases in 2008 AND in 2012.
On the other hand you have the stir-the-pot gang that forgets they weren't always kind and compassionate about the views of Republicans over the last few years. Who say it's ok to make conservatives afraid so that they can identify with LGBT students.
I think the Trump crowd is incredibly misguided and they have their priorities tied in all kinds of knots, but I also understand some of that reasoning, and as someone who became more liberal at Fox I can say it was love and forgiveness that moved me and not the fear and anger. I felt entirely humiliated by the love I was shown, and that's what changed my heart.
Here's what I'm going to ask, though. At the very least, group A, please stop throwing everyone who walks over to talk to group B and hear them out into the pool with them and making us your enemies or calling our desire to love and listen betrayal. I've gotten that from everyone today. Friends talking to me different because I wasn't there, friends looking concerned because I voice support for the protest. Cut out this holier-than-thou shit. If you want to preach love, do it. If you want to preach Jesus, live it! Be Jesus. I'm tired of everyone sowing seeds of division and anger and suspicion in the name of some Jesus that doesn't seem to materialize in their actual conversations.
I'm so proud of so many of you, and so disappointed in so many of you, you have no idea. But I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't think you were capable of doing better or if I didn't think your hearts were all at least trying to be in the right place.
I'm done. Cash me outside.
