Yesterday I got to experience one of the most heart breaking funerals I have ever been to. My friend Dylan was buried yesterday after a tragic accident that should have never happened. While at his service, I couldn't hold my emotions anymore and let it all out. What really hit me more was his Father Bob (toughest man I know) was speechless and feeling the loss of his son. Although this was a tragic accident, I wanted to write this because I want you to know you are loved. Through seeing suicide confessions and negative posts on this page, I want you to know that YOU ARE LOVED. There are many people out there that love you and if your ever feeling down and you can't take it anymore, remember that you are not alone and you are loved by someone. You are loved by God. My friend Dylan was loved by many, over 800 people showed up for his funeral to say good bye. Please put his family in your thoughts. Please think about your life as well on what could you do to love yourself, and others more.

Today I cried about the affair that my husband will potentially have while I am pregnant with his child. But I'm not actually pregnant. And I don't have a husband. Or a boyfriend.

Someone posted on here about how GFU has some pretty big ways it could improve, and Jere commented “Please share your thoughts.” So I decided to share my thoughts. I had always assumed before that the administration new all the common complaints of students, but his comment made me think, maybe they just don’t know. Anyway, I’m sure people have different opinions about these things, so please comment with your agreements or disagreements.

1. Chapel isn't that great.
Quite often, the speaker is just some guy trying to sell his book, and doesn't even talk about the Bible. When the speaker does talk about the Bible, the message is usually tangential to the central message of Christianity. How often is Christ's atoning sacrifice actually mentioned? About once a semester. Also, the music isn't that great. Sometimes I wonder if part of the problem is the sound system in Bauman, because I've noticed that whenever bands visit, they bring their own speakers which sound much better. I don't expect the worship team to sound like a professional band, I just have a feeling they could sound much better if a fourth the effort that is put into football was put into Chapel.

2. Chapel is required.
This issue goes far beyond us simply being annoyed because we don't want to go. The problem is that requiring Chapel ruins the experience for those who would otherwise be enthusiastic about it. People who came to Fox enthusiastic about worshiping Jesus quickly loose that enthusiasm after being forced to attend spiritually dry services every week, and after seeing the pervasive attitude of disrespect of other students. God is not honored by forced worship. It is disgusting to Him. There will never be a spiritual revival on campus as long as we are forced to see spirituality as a chore done to avoid a fine.

3. The food is just okay.
The Bon does a lot of things right. However, there are some problems. One is that the usual meal is more than half grains and potatoes, while the diet recommended by nutritionists is half fruits and vegetables. While fruits are available, usually as a bowl of apples, oranges, or bananas, and vegetables are available at the salad bar, it would be nice to see more prepared dishes involving fruits and vegetables being served as a main course. Another problem is that the cereals are all too sweet or not sweet at all. But instead of going on all day making suggestions, I'd like to point out that the Bon already knows how to make good food. We know this because they do make very good food, for special occasions. Usually this is when parents or prospective students are on campus. However, it's strange that they're more concerned about the satisfaction of our parents than us. We're the ones that go to school here.

4. Student Life is nosy and hypocritical.
If a boyfriend and girlfriend decide to have sex, that is their business, not the business of their college's administration. The same could be said about drinking off-campus. Don't get me wrong, most of us came to Fox partly because we are disgusted with the wild drinking and hook-up culture of other campuses. Fox's administration should work to keep Fox from becoming the same way. It's just that some policies are a bit excessive. Student Life is also hypocritical. Their treatment of Jayce shows that they are more concerned with rules than with loving others.

5. Football is expensive.
Most students will tell you that their department could use more money. Most living areas could use some repairs. The usual excuse is, there is only so much money to go around. But at the same time, we have built a brand new stadium! This would be fine if it was done to support a large group of students who saw football as an important part of life. However, instead, new students had to be recruited to fill up the team. It seems that the football program was started, not in the best interest of current students, but rather as a move by the administration to make Fox more appealing to new students. Furthermore, these new students attracted by the football program often don't fit the culture of Fox. Current students value academics, social justice, and spirituality, and we would like to attract new students because of a shared interest in these areas, and not for any other reason.

6. To Be Known or not to Be Known
I came to Fox partly because of their slogan and its supporting rhetoric, “To be understood, valued, encouraged, and uplifted.” I don't really know what they could have done to make me feel that way, but whatever it is, they didn't do it.

I don't know why my ex invited me to talk to them after having broke up a few months ago. Now it all comes rushing back...from the start to the end, and everything in between. The moments...everything. And to them, it's nothing to talk to their ex because I'm one of quite a few.

I don't love you back but I don't know how to tell you and I think I'm going to break your heart no matter what happens. I hate myself for it.
