#1433 PSA: If you are a freshman, or really anyone who is finding themselves with a desire to check out God or a campus ministry, DON'T go to Chi Alpha. You will not find God there, but a bunch of people who create their own "bible" of rules to live by and then suck you in. I checked it out once and realized that I couldn't find God there. I hear the other ministries are pretty inclusive though, don't have too much of a desire to check them out at this point. The church scared me away from God, I think I will just save myself for a church back home this summer that doesn't have cult-like tendencies. No bashing of religion here, in fact, I still want to develop a faith, just a very bad experience with a bad place. I thought a "relationship with God" meant that I'd learn biblical ways to live and view the world, not ways to live that a pastor created for some reason. Try as you will, just my 2 cents.
