Right now, I am studying the history of religious beliefs for a class. I find it extremely fascinating! I have never been taught this stuff, so all my life I have put all faith in science. My faith is still in science, but that doesn't mean i dread learning about these religious practices and beliefs, even if they go against what I believe in. But, why is it that when a religious person is asked to learn something related to science that the church sees as wrong, they get offended? I've accepted who you are and what you believe in, now why are you not going to accept mine?

I was reading the post about not using certain language, I honestly I completely agree with getting annoyed by people who use the word retarded to describe a dumb situation or something along those lines. If you worked with special needs individuals for even just a day, I think you would say the same thing. Individuals who have special needs are some of the most kind, caring, and inspiring individuals that you will ever get to meet. Next time you want to say something is retarded, imagine having a special needs family as a brother, sister, cousin, aunt, uncle, or someday child. You absolutely would not want people mocking them in any way. So please, don't say that people against the R-Word on just "on their high horse." Take time to realize that everyone is blessed with different abilities in life-you're just being too narrow minded to realize that.
