A perfect Saturday morning:
I wake up to your smile. We're both a bit sleepy-eyed from a late night of fulfilling our social obligations; but today is ours. I get up to make some tea and I foolishly stub my foot on the bed. You giggle and reach for the paper as I make my way to the kitchen. I say something cheesy about you throwing me off balance. You roll your eyes but secretly think it's cute. I throw on a jazz record and return with our favorite mugs and comment on how you should switch to online articles; it's more sustainable. You grumble at me because you like the feel of it in your hands; you can't flip the pages or touch the words online. I know exactly what you mean but continue to think that I'm right. We'll just agree to disagree. I crawl up next to you and run my fingers through your hair as you tell me about an article you just read. We debate the economic implications of proposed foreign policies, laugh at recent trends in popular culture, and get excited about new advances in technology. When we decide that we've had our fill of news we go make lunch together (we sleep too late for breakfast). We decide to eat lunch on the porch so we can get some fresh air and watch the leaves change color. Autumn is our favorite season...
