As an insider, I can say with absolute certainty that the Greek system (in general, not just at UWEC) is a load of crap. Or at least sororities are. You pay money every month (and for what?), you have to follow rules and regulations, like no drinking in the sorority house, you have to look a certain way if you are wearing your letters, you have to attend meetings in business attire (for a freaking sorority meeting, who cares), you invest countless hours and lots of money that you never get back, and what's worse, the drama that some of these sororities get into is worse than high school! Honestly, get over it! Be cool and just act like mature adults for once. Also, new recruits are treated like royalty at first and as soon as they are initiated, BAM, they are hit with what sorority life is really like--expensive drama with a lot of falsehoods and fake smiles. Now on the other hand, I met a lot of nice people in the sorority who I remain friends with. You have to understand though, in the sorority setting so many people just change into these completely different people and it is frustrating to witness these nice people you meet just rapidly devolve into exclusionary people. In the grand scheme of things, I don't regret joining because it was a brief but valuable learning experience, but I am genuinely glad I did not stay.

there is a reason the statesman win so often. if you don't like them then don't vote for them but don't bash them because they do put effort into their campaign, whether or not it is more or less than everyone else's effort.
