I really just want to be invited to parties :( All my friends only ever go to the bars. My house is not party-friendly so I can't have my own. I confess that I don't know how to make party-throwing friends.

Any places to intelligently socialize and think on a weekend night? My friends aren't interested, bars are loud, coffee shops pretentious, and it's too damned cold to do anything outside. Hope this doesn't come across as arrogant.
