I was in a relationship with a guy who was a recovering addict. Over the past year, he has relapsed several times, has gone to rehab and a halfway house. After the 2nd time it happened, I moved out and broke up with him. We didn’t talk for almost two months when I got a phone call from him in rehab. We were trying to work things out, but I was still unsure about it. He recently just relapsed again, and I said I was done. Does this make me a selfish person? Should I have stayed with him despite his illness? Really confused as to what to do right now. Addiction is so powerful. I don’t normally turn to these kind of things, but I really don’t know what to do at this point. He really is a great guy and is perfect to me despite his addiction.
