Okay this has to do with the whole popularity in college theme I keep seeing on here. You know, I hate to be the one to burst everyone's concept of reality, but truth be told that the whole popularity thing is not really important in the real world. I mean think about it a bit... is an employer really going to care about how many people you slept with or how many people thought you were "cool" over an actual resume and things that actually pertain to a sense of responsibility? Why do we continue to let it bother us that some people just have some growing up to do? The way I see it is, the people who judge based on popularity only do so because they need an excuse to go around judging others in place of realizing their own imperfections. I don't think they realize that what they're doing is hypocritical and bigoted, but it gives them some sort of closure and self value by striking down others into submission with the fear of being dubbed a "loser". The plain and simple truth is, popularity is just an idea created by people to gain a sense of superiority over those they don't take the time to associate with and actually understand their differences. They would much rather sit in their little social circle they created and judge others for not being up to their "standards". So, for the people who are afraid of what the "cool kids" think of you, please don't be. Everyone is unique in their own way, there will always be someone who finds what you do impressive, no matter what that thing may be. Stop worrying about the people who have nothing better to do in their lives than to point out reasons why they think yours sucks and just be you. Besides, nothing gets their blood boiling more than seeing you not care about what they have to say ;)
