Loving someone with an untreated/undiagnosed mental illness is the most painful mistake I've ever made. I've known for years that this person would eventually crack, and sure enough they did. Now I'm sitting here writing this, and there is nothing I can do but hopelessly watch them self destruct.

I'm so sick of seeing and hearing from black people who still can't get over the fact that blacks used to be slaves in this country 150 years ago. It peeves me even more when they blame their current situation and misfortunes on slavery. Mother fucker, slavery ended in this country over a century ago; Segregation and Jim crow laws came to an end half a century ago. Today everyone is equal and the only thing holding you back from achieving anything is your own bitter ignorant ass. Slavery's an important part of our nation's history that should never be forgotten but it's time to move on and take personal responsibility and accountability for your life instead of being a lazy sob who blames their situation on shit from decades or centuries past. By the way, I'm African American myself and I came from a very underprivileged family in a very economically disadvantaged town but I graduated from UNT two years ago and am now in med school. Be the first to strive hard and achieve something is tough but someone has to pave that path so others can follow. Someone has to set the example for our future generations.
