I was in my sociology class and we talking about gender roles and whatnot, and we were asked questions about if so-and-so treated us differently because of our gender. I didn't want to answer because everyone who did expressed that the men were always favored and women given the shit-stick. I, on the other hand, have always been passed up for women, especially by authority figures! The mere number of feminists who were very angry in their tone of voice intimidated me to not share my experience, and frankly that bothers me. I've seen how feminists act on sites like Tumblr and I'm worried of how ostracized I'd be in that class if I even shared my opinion.

#5301 People keep telling me that being myself is the best thing I can do to make friends. While I mostly agree with this, I've had trouble making friends with women in particular with this advice.
Being myself doesn't seem to do the trick and I really don't want to carry the "Oh, well she couldn't handle me anyways" attitude. It's been one whole year since I've started attending and I've failed to make any girl friends by being myself. What should I change about myself? Asking because being polite, talkative, and taking the initiative are things that just aren't working, for me at least.
For clarity: I'm not asking on how to get a girlfriend or one night stands. Just friends that are girls.
