Not sure if it's the current racial climate or a sea change on this page, but hoping it will settle down soon. It almost makes me miss the racial discussions/arguments from the early days of UNT Confessions - yeah, they were really uncomfortable, but at least you had two voices instead of watching these far right dudes and gals spam the comments section with anger and negativity.

I get where you all are coming from and what you're going for - an (ironically, mind you) minority opinion in the world of left-wing academia who want to have their voices heard. Hard-working folks from small towns who are conservative, may have had rough childhoods, and spent lots of their student careers in the school of hard knocks. This makes you feel anger towards the "oversensitive, whiney" folks AKA "hipsters" and the like for not having thick skin or a background like yours. But for godsakes, spewing anger isn't going to bring anyone together or create a more peaceful campus. And while your voice might be the minority voice on campus, you should at least rest easy knowing that you still hold the popular opinion of the voting members of the United States, so why are you all complaining like you're in danger of being silenced? The Republicans won the most recent election, college only last four years, enjoy life.

Its like you guys and gals (I've noticed at least six or seven of you) have given up on learning compassion. Like you take pride in being an asshole. You post lots of pictures that have a sentiment of happiness and relief towards what happened to Mike Brown, like he deserved to be killed for being a "thug" and wasn't a human being who fucks up like all humans do. You don't sound funny or interesting - you come off as intolerant.

Sorry if I sounded insulting, just venting what a lot of people who have loved this page since the start are thinking. Life is to short to spend it being angry and shouting divisive thoughts on Facebook pages (especially ones that exist for fun). #5620 There's a slight difference between fat-shaming and body-shaming. I agree with fat-shaming but not body-shaming. Why should we support obesity and make kids think it's ok? I'm not saying we have to be skinny anorexic twigs becausr that's not healthy either. Too much or too little of anything can be bad for you. Obesity is not healthy. Having a healthy amount of fat is ok, though. It's all about BMI, not actually pounds. If you have an unhealthy BMI and you're a 200 pound fat fuck then you don't deserve to be placed on a pedestal. You shouldn't be proud of that because that's just disgusting. It's like being proud of having a goat-fucking fetish. It's sick. Lose weight and stop being proud of your fat whale of a body. Fat people have so many health issues it's not even funny. And beyond that, think of all the crap that could grow in your fat folds. It's disgusting and not something to be proud of.

#5619 If all goes according to plan, I'll be headed up to Denton after graduation this spring. I'm beyond excited to find a better social climate than the small town I'm from; I want to be closer to people who are interested in intellectual discourse and growing themselves. Also, I hope the dating scene turns out to be better. I'm a single gay dude, and to say that the dating scene is slim pickings (to use the southern term) where I'm from would be a dramatic understatement. I'm also hoping to go to graduate school here in the counseling program. It all depends on what opportunities are available to me.
