#16109 I confess that I believe that essentially everything remotely related to religion or lack thereof has become a massive circlejerk. When I was a Christian, I was called stupid for believing in a "magical sky fairy." When I was atheist, I was referred to as a "neckbeard" who liked my little pony (seriously wtf?). I am now an apatheist because I just don't care about that shit anymore.

#16109 I confess that the amount naivete among the people who post here is frightening. Rape is bad. Falsely accusing someone of rape is bad. What people seem to forget is that there are bad people out there. There always has been and always will be. You can't live your life assuming everyone has your best interests in mind. All you can do is take as many precautions as you can to ensure the chances bad things happening to you are smaller, though they will never be completely gone. If you go to a party full of complete strangers and and get blackout drunk, there just might be bad people there to take advantage of you. However, pretending like there is no danger of doing that isn't helping you at all. You can't live your life in fear, but you can't always assume that that no one will harm you if you put yourself in vulnerable situations. Because I know people will still try to accuse me of blaming rape victims: RAPE IS BAD AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PARTY AND DO THINGS WITHOUT THE RISK OF IT HAPPENING, I KNOW. YOU SHOULD'T HAVE TO CARRY AROUND MACE, WALK IN GROUPS, LOCK YOUR DOORS, ETC. But bad people still exist and the risk is always there. So just be as safe as you can while still having fun and understand that the dangers won't just go away because you don't want them to be there.
