#17201 I'm scared of butterflies. Maybe "scared" isn't the right word... But l wouldn't really say "terrified"...
When I was a toddler, I went into the butterfly room at a zoo. One butterfly flew a little too close and I swung my arm in defense and accidentally killed it. My mom decided it would be wise to leave.
In 2nd grade my class raised caterpillars to butterflies and we went to see a butterfly exhibit. I was really excited, having not known about my past experience, to see such beautiful butterflies. The moment I stepped into that room I started to panic. I cried and was incredibly sweaty yet chilled. I was hyper alert and terrified, flinching at every movement in my peripheral and checking every inch of my clothing to make sure no butterfly landed on me, and I wasn't allowed to leave until the rest of the class did. It was emotionally scarring.
In 8th grade I went to an aquarium that had a butterfly room. It took some convincing, but my teacher let me stay outside. That could have been really embarrassing. They're so harmless yet they strike so much fear into my heart.
