#3 Do any other gay guys feel unwelcome and out of place at the LGBT center and at gay events? The Stanford gay community should be a place for all but in reality it's full of vapid, judgmental, and catty individuals who seem to believe that to be gay means I have to conform to the narrow definition of gay culture they've built for themselves. Sorry, I don't have to give up my ""gay card"" because I don't like go-go dancing to Lady Gaga music and no, I'm not ""self-loathing"" either because I don't want to go shopping for handbags with you. I'm a proud and open gay man but I'm not going to pretend like I'm something I'm not. Ironically, straight people seem to understand this point a lot more than my gay brethren.

The LGBT community should be able to hold a gender-queer formal one night and a football tailgate the next. It should be able to put on both a spoken word event and a night of playing FIFA or Call of Duty. Otherwise, you don't have the right to say you represent the LGBT community, because you don't.

#2 I'm tired of having to explain what my major is to job recruiters. If I don't get the job, it's because people don't think they have a position available that fits my interests or my GPA is too low. People also automatically think that because your GPA is so low, you must be a dumbfuck who just doesn't do his schoolwork or something. There are many factors that influence a person's grades. I feel like I will never get a job or graduate from this place.
