#442 Just a friendly reminder that some of the police officers of Hammond, Louisiana are not here to protect or serve you.
At 8:20 pm this evening (May 11,2015) I was almost hit by a police car being driven by--wait for it--a police officer.
I was walking east on Thomas street on the walkway that connects from Bayou Booksellers to Mariner's Inn while the light was red. The cop was driving down Thomas opposite of me and sharply turned to cut me off. However, I was already more than halfway across the street. The officer was going slow enough to recognize I was there, yet came so aggressively close to me without stopping that I had to jump forward out of the street to avoid getting hit.
He drove to the police station across the street from the Brady's parking lot immediately after like nothing happened.
He swiftly went inside, so I walked up to his car and took a picture of his license plate and waited outside to speak with him.
After waiting five minutes I gave up and started to walk away. Moments after turning the corner, I heard a car's ignition switched on and sure enough, there he was driving off. I'm going to attempt to file a complaint, but something tells me no one is going to care. I would just like him to know that I seriously doubt he did not see me and I think he is a coward, a bully, and a fraud. I know nothing else about who or what he is except that he has thin, short-cropped light hair and what seems to be an average build. His license plate was HPD 351.
