#26227 See, I own a bike. I own a bike because its a convenient way to travel across campus in a short amount of time. You know what I do when I have class? I bring a lock and I lock it on one of many bike racks provided by the university. You know why I lock my bike? Because if I don't a number of things could happen. Someone could steal it while I'm in class, a group of frat guys could hang it from a 30ft tree. It's the nature of people, they like to do evil things. Is it illegal to steal a bike? Yeah its illegal but people still do it don't they? So I lock it to PREVENT theft. I can't stop theft, if someone really wanted, they can easily cut my lock and steal my bike regardless. However, that would take a lot of time and effort so a lock PREVENTS it from happening. I lock my bike because I don't want my bike stolen simple as that. I don't just leave my bike unlocked and scream #TheftCulture when someone steals my bike. No, I don't have that luxury. If my bike were stolen I would be to blame for not locking it. Because you see, if I walk into the police station reporting the theft of my bike, you know what they will tell me? Why didn't you lock your bike? PREVENT DON'T BLAME.
