I smile at anyone who crosses my path, but all I want is for someone to be open to a conversation on the bus, or as we walk toward the same place, instead of everyone trudging toward their own ends so isolated. So if you want to say hi, shake hands, greet someone as a potential new friend, go for it, don't be discouraged, because I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling like this. And if someone does so, say hi to you and takes that leap of faith, return their earnest greeting in a wholesome way that doesn't discount them immediately...our world will fall apart if we all ignore one another until forced to interact.
