#7546 When I was a Freshman at Purdue I was fortunate enough to have a memorable meeting with the President of the University. The thing was, it wasn’t how most would expect. One day during the first week of school I agreed to meet some people at Wiley dining court. I arrived at Wiley and found the table my friends were sitting at but there was an older woman and her husband sitting with my friends and talking to them. I tried to be polite so when I sat down next to them I asked the woman who she was and if she was the mother of one of my friends. She and everyone at the table instantly started laughing and she replied that she was simply nobody. I was really puzzled but finally when I got up to get some more food a friend from the table accompanied me. He then informed me that the woman that was sitting with us just happened to be France A. Córdova, the President of Purdue. I can definitely say I felt very stupid and embarrassed after that. I guess I just couldn’t believe the President of Purdue would be getting dinner with a bunch of Freshman.
